What does it mean to be an American?
We live in a country that is divided by terminology that we use to identify our parents nationality and home land.
African Americans.
Mexican Americans.
Native Americans.
German Americans.
Spanish Americans.
Irish Americans.
Jewish Americans.
Norwegian Americans.
Russian Americans.
Swedish Americans.
Vietnamese Americans.
This list is just a few of the nationalities represented by Americans.
I'm tired of the division and animosity that these words bring in our society.
I'm tired of a government and society that uses many different languages to communicate it's laws, voting instructions, road signs and even teaches in our schools, using different languages.
I'm not against learning or teaching other languages, as long as the person can speak and read English! I've taken Spanish three different times in college and even took a job in Mexico, so that I could learn to speak Spanish. I would encourage families to learn more than one language and to teach their children their native language, but our government and public communication companies should use English and English only!
Are you an American, or just a foreigner, who now lives in America!
Let's forget about being called "half-breed" Americans and let's all just be "American" Citizens!
